Week 4 Paparore Kura 26/05/2021

Here we are back at Paparore kura. We started our day with sharing our thoughts, where we're all at, are we using or practicing what we have been learning? Through this korero I have realised that I am not alone on this journey and that I need extra assistance in some area's along with others. (Whew)!!!!

First up we watched and listened to Dorothy Burt.  She spoke about how we are lucky to have technology, for not only staying connected but to also create - learn - share.  This lady seems to always be in a different place in our beautiful papatuanuku. Before she left us she was heading to Taranaki.

Next we had face to face with Kiriene learning about google forms and creating a questionnaire to share and link to our names on our Agenda. I really enjoyed this part I felt that I picked it up quite easy.  (Yeay Me!)

Hapara Hottips with Kerry - I'm glad we went over this, I now am feeling that I am on the right track using Hapara in-class with my students.

We went over google maps with Vicki for our Deep Dive session, this was very interesting to me as my students use this site all the time finding out where each other lives etc...  It sure was a Deep Dive session. I certainly would have to play with this site as their is so much more you can do wtihin google maps. It is 'AMAZING'. We were able to make and share a google map place. That was fun.

We moved onto spread sheets with Kerry and Heck at first it went straight over my head with alot to take in. It seems to be a useful tool if you know what you are doing. Kerry and Vicky make it look so easy.

We then split into groups of our level which was really helpful. Keriene showed us hands on how to enter and create a graph once Data was entered.

It was such a cool day today. Lots of laughter. For me it was the best session I have had so far. Was it because I am becoming familiar with Manaiakalani? is it because my students are using this more often and showing me? Well stay posted and i'll let you know!!!

  1. Kia ora Whaea Ali, you've done a great job with embedding your images today. It's been an awesome journey learning beside you. Do you feel like this is getting easier as the weeks go by?

It is so fun having you with us on this cohort :)
I'm glad you feel like things are starting to make sense. It is a steep learning curve at first, but it gets better as you go.
There are so many engaging tools within the Google Workspace that you can use with your ākonga. Gathering stakeholder feedback can take on a whole new meaning. For example, students could create a survey about their favourite kai, which could then be populated into graphs. Students could use Google Maps to help them plot the source of their kai and work out which foods were the most sustainable. Lots of possibilities, with real, meaningful contexts for them.
I’m looking forward to seeing how you use them with your students.
